One of the most painful heartbreaks in life is when you realize that the dream you’ve always wished for will never come true. From the deepest, most guarded part of your heart, it hurts. It hurts so badly. You just want to scream in agony, cry until you’re numb, and sleep until it all goes away. But when you wake up, it’s there again. Taunting you. Jeering at you. Reminding you of your failure. “I don’t care,” you tell yourself. “That’s not what I wanted anyway”, “It would never have worked”, or “that was so dumb”, you try to convince yourself. And it works for a while, but deep down, in that guarded secret spot, you will never forget that dream. Life goes on, and you will learn to move on, but the dream will always be there. And once in a while, you’ll be reminded of it, you’ll think about it, and no matter how many days, years, or decades go by, there is no pain or disappointment like that of a stolen dream.
